Jon’s AI agent

Ask it about my work, out loud or by typing.

Next to most things on this site, there’s a button that says “Ask my agent about this.” Click one and you’re talking to an AI agent that knows my work: the roles, the projects, and how I like to run product. You can talk to it out loud, or just type.

I set it up on ElevenLabs in July 2026, with Claude as the model behind it, and spent late September making it part of the site instead of a bubble stuck in the corner. Getting it to talk was the easy part. The real work was making sure it only says things that are true, and that nobody visiting the site can change that.

What’s interesting about it

It starts where you are

Each button hands the agent a topic, like the project or role you were reading about, so it knows where you’re coming from. Buttons on cards also type a suggested question into the chat for you. It never sends it; that part is your call.

Visitors can’t rewrite it

ElevenLabs lets a web page override an agent’s instructions. That would have made the topic buttons easier to build, but it would also let anyone with a browser rewrite what my agent says. So the page passes only a topic, and the agent treats it as a label, never as instructions.

It says when it doesn’t know

Everything it knows comes from one knowledge base that I write and keep current. It won’t invent an employer, a date or a credential. If a question isn’t covered, it says so instead of guessing.

Built on what actually works

The widget is pinned to one version, so a vendor update can’t change my site without me. When the docs didn’t match that version, I tested what really worked in a browser and built on that, with tests that catch it if a later version breaks.

Questions

What is Jon’s AI agent?

It’s a voice and text agent on jonolson.net that answers questions about Jon Olson’s work: his roles, his projects and how he approaches product. It runs on ElevenLabs, with Claude as the model.

Am I talking to Jon?

No. It’s an AI agent, and it says so in its first sentence. Its answers come from a knowledge base Jon writes and keeps current.

Are conversations recorded?

Yes, once you start one. Opening the agent doesn’t start a conversation; sending a message or starting a call does, and the widget asks you to accept ElevenLabs’ terms first.

What won’t the agent answer?

Anything that isn’t in its knowledge base. It says so rather than guessing. It also won’t make commitments on Jon’s behalf, and it points personal questions to his email.

Who built Jon’s AI agent?

Jon Olson, a product leader in Carmel, Indiana. He built it on ElevenLabs Agents and wired it into this site with Claude Code.
